Enterprise Architecture: An Overview
Yogesh Malhotra discusses Enterprise Architectures as they relate to the broad decisions that must be made by an organization as it creates its organizational information support system.

Many Faces of Architecture
In recent years architecture has acquired recognition as playing a pivotal role in change processes. Despite this recognition, describing architecture has proven to be difficult. Architecture frameworks have been defined to address this problem. However, there are many of them, and together they leave us with seemingly contradicting terminology. What are the underlying forces that caused people to create so many different frameworks? What do these frameworks teach us about the essence of architecting? Where do I start to select or create a framework for my current project? With these questions in mind we set out to perform a comparison of existing architecture frameworks. We ended up with a deeper understanding of the function of a framework, and “discovered” nine fundamental dimensions that seem to underlie architectural thinking.

The Profession of the Enterprise Architect

Information Systems to (Meta-Information) Model Driven Enterprise Systems
Information systems are no more synonymous to the enterprise systems. The enterprise is now more of a demand-supply chain relationship between suppliers, partners, and customers. The enterprise is passing through a paradigm shift that will help us to classify enterprise systems most effectively.

Architectural Patterns
Patterns for system architecting are very much in their infancy. They have been introduced at this time essentially to draw them to the attention of the systems architecture community as an emerging important resource, and as a placeholder for hopefully more rigorous descriptions and references to more plentiful resources in future versions of TOGAF.

A Framework to Define a Generic Enterprise Reference Architecture and Methodology
Peter Bernus and Laszlo Nemes discuss a Generic Enterprise Reference Architecture and Methodology is about those methods, models and tools which are needed to build the integrated enterprise. The architecture is generic because it applies to most, potentially all types of enterprise.
